Kingston Elementary Celebrates Reading Month

March is here and we are entering our second full week of our all school book club at Kingston Elementary. Our feature title is Zoeyy and Sassafras: Dragons and Marshmallows written by Asia Citro.

One School, One Book is a unique program that brings both home and school together to support children's literacy, with far reaching benefits.

One School, One Book helps build better readers by filling children with stories. The research is clear - the best way to prepare children to be readers and learners is to read aloud to them, and a quality book with fun activities is a great way to start.

Start good family ready habits by joining the entire elementary school community and reading every night for several weeks in a row. Reading aloud as a family becomes part of the nightly routine when it is reinforced with a great book and a communal experience.

Broaden your child's thinking about books and literature by showing them all the connections that can be drawn from on book. We use trivia questions, activities and discussions questions at school to help students learn to make a deeper connection with literature.

And, most of all, One School, One Book is lots of fun!

A great big shoutout to the Roberson family for helping to purchase copies of our OSOB title this year! Another big thank you to Kingston Connected and KES Student Council for funding the activities and prizes for our Reading Month events. We are truly grateful for such amazing community support. It's a great time to be a Cardinal!
